From November 6, 2017 – November 19, 2017 we are praying and only eating fruit, vegetables, salad and soup.
Day 11: November 16, 2017
Memory verse: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Pray today to live with expectation and anticipation of the great things God will manifest for us:
1. So that we do not live solely focused on the past
2. So that we affirmatively expect the new things God will bring to us and bring us to both corporately and individually
3. So that we continue to move forward, even through the challenges of a wilderness or desert
The prophet Isaiah is told by God to tell the people of Judah to stop only referring to the time when their ancestors were delivered from Egypt by walking on dry land across the bottom of the Red Sea when speaking of His goodness and power. While that was a great deliverance in the history of the Nation of Israel, the future deliverance as provided by Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection would be far greater. The Lord wanted His people to look forward, with anticipation, to the next major move of God and not focus exclusively on the last major move of God.
While we are wise to celebrate all that The Lord has done to help us be who and where we are, we are also wise to appreciate the fact that He is not finished with us yet. God challenges us to expect great things from Him. He will then exceed our greatest expectations (Ephesians 3:20 – 21).
The question should never be: “Can God do great things?” The question should always be: “What great things do we expect Him to do?” When we expect great things, we do not live focused solely on the past. When we expect great things we affirmatively expect new things from God for us and our church. When we expect great things we continue to move forward regardless of present challenges. That is why we are praying today to live with expectation and anticipation of the great things God will manifest for us.
