From November 6, 2017 – November 20, 2017 we are praying and only eating fruit, vegetables, salad and soup.
Day 7: November 12, 2017
Memory verse: John 4: 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Pray to please an audience of One today with true Worship
1. So that our sole focus is on pleasing God with our sacrifice of praise
2. So that we rush to His house with an expectation to receive all with that He has for us
3. So that we participate in making God smile by doing our gospel best to help bring others into His presence; especially the unsaved
Jesus makes an intentional visit to Samaria while on His way to Galilee. While in Samaria, He sits on a well to wait for a woman so that He could explain to her the posture, purpose, place and Person of worship. While some have almost demonized this woman because of the number of times she had been married (5) and the fact that the man she was currently with was not her husband, it is worth noting that women of that time were culturally and legally forbidden from divorcing a man. The divorces all had to be initiated by the men to whom she was married. Even though her view of men may not have necessarily been good, Jesus tells this woman that God will receive her worship as long as it is offered in spirit and truth.
It is awesome and humbling to know that we can approach God. We thank God for that which He has done for us! We praise God because He is worthy and inhabits the praise of His people (Psalm 22:3)! We worship God simply because He is The Great I Am! Each week we should rush to be in His presence and do everything we can to help others come to worship our King.
We can become so consumed with the problems, pressures and consumerism of life that we forget God actually created us to worship Him (Isaiah 43:21). As Bishop Simon Gordon has stated: “An empty seat in church is an insult to The God Who created and sustains us.” That is why we are praying today to please an audience of One (God) with true Worship.
