From November 6, 2017 – November 20, 2017 we are praying and only eating fruit, vegetables, salad and soup.
Day 8: November 13, 2017
Memory verse: John 17: 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
Pray that we live the prayer of Jesus
1. So that we truly be one JUST AS God and Jesus are one
2. So that we submit to Holy Spirit’s plan for our lives
3. So that we openly work together towards one common goal.
After Jesus finished His last supper and established the Lord’s Supper, He offered a public prayer for His disciples (and saints across all ages) in the presence of the disciples. This is actually the Lord’s Prayer. The prayer in Matthew 6 which begins with the phrase “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” is really the Model Prayer. The Matthew 6 Model Prayer was taught to provide us with a guide to learn the parts of prayer. The John 17 Lord’s Prayer was offered as a petition to The Father for the saints to be and remain as one. The central theme of the Lord’s Prayer is unity.
Jesus desires that His followers be one JUST AS He and His Father are one. This is a major ask with world changing benefits if lived out. God is present anytime there is unity (Genesis 11:5-6) and He commands a blessing when mankind is united in Him (Acts 2:1-4; Acts 4:24-31). There is no division in God and there should not be any division among those who love Him and have accepted Jesus as Lord.
The world has not seen true spiritual power in operation until we are one JUST AS God and Jesus are one. Being one does not mean that we lose our personality; it means that we have completely surrendered to Holy Spirit’s plan and are locked in on one goal – making disciples for Jesus. It may sound like a cliché but it is true: There are no denominational or religious sections in heaven. Saints across all ages will join together and give The Lord praise for all of eternity. That is why we are praying today that we live the prayer of Jesus.
