From November 6, 2017 – November 19, 2017 we are praying and only eating fruit, vegetables, salad and soup.
Day 9: November 14, 2017
Memory verse: 1 Timothy 2: 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
Pray for the President and all in positions of governmental authority
1. So that they allow Godly wisdom to influence their decisions
2. So that they lead with compassion
3. So that they use their office to represent all of the people and not just their constituents
The Jews typically only prayed for themselves. They would not have prayed for Gentiles (non-Jews), yet Paul writes to Timothy and encourages that prayer be offered for everyone, inclusive of those in positions of governmental authority. Even though the saints were under attack from those very rulers, prayer was presented as the remedy to help them live a quiet and peaceable life.
Please understand that the enemy has no defense for prayer. More than a wish list which we speak, prayer is a conversation with a loving, all powerful Father. God actively watches over His Word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12). That is why it is important that we know God’s will and then pray that back to Him.
Many are complaining about the political and personal decisions of our elected officials. Complaints do not bring change nor do they ever bring peace. Only the presence of God can bring peace. That is why we are praying today for the President and all in positions of governmental authority.
