2019 7 Days of Quarterly Fasting and Prayer, Blog Post

7 Days of Prayer and Fasting – Q2 2019

From May 13, 2019 – May 19, 2019 we are praying and fasting 12 hours per day (6am – 6pm) only drinking water. Of course, if someone needs to eat to take their medication, they should do so.

The areas of focus for this fast will be discipline, commitment to Christ, and His purpose for our lives. It is based on Luke 22:54 – 62 when Peter denied Jesus. Each day, one principle from this passage will serve as the focus of our fast.

Day 7: May 19, 2019

After a little over 3 years of walking with Jesus, Peter still denied knowing Him when Jesus was on trial.

Acts 2: 14 But Peter stood up with the eleven apostles, and in a loud voice he spoke to the crowd: “My fellow Jews, and all of you who are in Jerusalem, listen to me. Pay attention to what I have to say.; 41 Then those people who accepted what Peter said were baptized. About three thousand people were added to the number of believers that day.

This shows that you should pray for the Peter’s in your life. Once they allow God to help them with their internal issues, they have the potential to do great things.

You should pray for the Peter’s in your life. Once they allow God to help them with their internal issues, they have the potential to do great things.

Even though Peter denied knowing Jesus three times, Jesus never stopped loving him. Jesus openly told Peter that He was in His prayers. Jesus openly invited Peter to see Him after the resurrection. Jesus openly used Peter to help others become saved and baptized.

It is a blessing to know that Jesus loves us and wants to use us to help build His kingdom. If we are truly going to follow Jesus, we must be willing to pray for those who may hurt us just as we have hurt Him.

Does it hurt when others hurt us? Yes, it does. Does it hurt us more than when we hurt Jesus? No, it does not. If He can love us through the pain, we can love others through the pain as well. The ultimate goal is not to find peace from the pain. The ultimate goal is salvation.

Pray today:

1. For every Peter in your life; they often hurt you because they are hurting,

2. To be used to help others know Jesus, and

3. For an army of believers who are ready to grow from the denials of our past and expand the Kingdom of God.

After you read and pray throughout the day, be sure to take at least 5 minutes to listen for God to respond. Keep a journal to record what you hear Him say
